Jim Reed, part of the Fourth
Generation of the Reed Family to enter the Jewelry Business, was born
here in Sedalia, Missouri in 1945. He completed his elementary and
high school education in Sedalia. After being drafted and completing two years in The United States Army, Jim went back to school and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Central Missouri. Jim served as a Bench Jeweler, and in Sales until his father retired. Since then he has taken the place of his father running the day-to-day business of the company, and also in sales.
Jim has completed Courses at the Gemological Institute of America in Diamonds, Diamond Grading, Colored Stones, Colored Stone Grading, Gem Identification, and Pearl Grading.
Jim was also elected by his peers to serve two year terms as Second Vice President, First Vice-President, President, and Immediate Past-President of the Missouri Jewelers Association.
From 2000 through 2010. Jim has also served as The Director of Sponsors for the Jewelers Executive Conference, a Bi-Annual event which Presents Seminars for the Jewelry Business Owners and Managers who belong to the Missouri Jewelers Association, Oklahoma Jewelers Association, Nebraska Jewelers Association,
and the Kansas Jewelers Association.
Reed & Sons has a weekly radio show called "Jewelry Talk" which Jim hosts on Sedalia Radio Station 1050 KSIS-AM at
8:30 a.m. each Wednesday morning.
